Nobel laureate Professor John O'Keefe gives a lecture at the Embassy of Hungary in London with introduction by ELKH President Balázs Gulyás

Nobel laureate scientist Professor John O'Keefe delivered a lecture at the Embassy of Hungary in London on 24 June 2023, introduced by Professor Balázs Gulyás, President of the Eötvös Loránd Research Network.

Professor John O’Keefe, American-British neuro-physicist received the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly with May-Britt Moser and Edvard I. Moser for their discoveries of cells that constitute a positioning system in the brain. Organised and hosted by the Embassy of Hungary in London, Professor O’Keefe spoke at the event on the functioning of animal and human navigation in his lecture titled “How the brain supports flexible navigation”. The lecturer was introduced with personal remarks by President of ELKH Balázs Gulyás, who acknowledged him as one of the Great Paradigm Shifters (GPS) of our age. The audience of about 40 Hungarian and British experts had the opportunity to address questions to the Nobel laureate scientist. Host of the event Ambassador Ferenc Kumin presented the guest speaker with an authentic copy of the Hungarian invention “Gömböc”.
