The Institute of Economics of the HUN-REN Centre for Economic and Regional Studies (HUN-REN CERS KTI) organized its annual Summer Workshop on August 17-18. The objective of the workshop is to strengthen the ties between Hungarian junior researchers working abroad and their colleagues at Hungarian institutions. In past years, they have hosted Hungarian scholars from the best universities in the US and Europe, ranging from Berkeley to Harvard, and from LSE to Bocconi University. The programs of the past Summer Workshops can be found here.

The presenters at this year's Summer Workshop also came from some of the best universities in Europe and English-speaking countries, including the Universities of Vienna, Tinbergen, Toronto, Sydney, and Zurich, as well as Georgetown University and the World Bank. During the event, participants deliver extended talks on their research, and each submitted paper is reviewed and discussed by a Hungarian expert in the respective field. The audience also has the opportunity to engage in discussions after each presentation. Consequently, each of the nine presenters could enjoy a full hour dedicated to their project. This format encourages scientific debate and the strengthening of ties between scholars working in Hungary and abroad.

Aspiring presenters could submit their research in any field of economics. Thus the program featured theoretical papers in IO and behavioral microeconomics, and empirical papers as well, mostly in public, education and labor economics.
