ELKH and the University of Miskolc sign cooperation agreement to promote collaborative achievements that bring benefits to higher education, science and Hungarian society

The University of Miskolc and the Eötvös Loránd Research Network have signed a cooperation agreement with the aim of supporting beneficial outcomes for higher education, science, and the entire Hungarian society. The parties will collaborate on joint grant applications, cooperative research projects, the organization of domestic and international conferences, and professional development programs. Additionally, they intend to strengthen doctoral education by providing joint research topics to support the research endeavors of doctoral students.

The cooperation agreement signing ceremony took place at the University of Miskolc on June 19, 2023.

"The University of Miskolc is a highly diverse institution dedicated to education and research, providing courses in over three hundred fields across its eight faculties. Our mission is to position the university as the intellectual knowledge hub of the Northern Hungarian region. We are proud that our institution is also engaged in strategic-level, interdisciplinary research the results of which are integrated into the educational activities of our faculties. The cooperation agreement with ELKH creates a framework for mutually beneficial and exemplary joint professional activities, enabling us to achieve valuable results for society, higher education and the scientific community," stated Prof. Dr. Péter Szűcs, Vice-Rector for General and Scientific Affairs of the University of Miskolc.

“Leveraging science and research for the benefit of Hungarian society is a top priority for us. An integral part of this endeavor involves a mindset change, where the value of research results is assessed not only in terms of publication count and citations but also in their social and economic impact," emphasized Balázs Gulyás, President of the Eötvös Loránd Research Network, in relation to the agreement. He added, "By capitalizing on the outstanding team of over 3,000 researchers and the considerable scientific potential of ELKH, while continuing to safeguard the freedom of research, our aim is to significantly enhance Hungary's scientific performance on the global stage, aligned with Hungary’s strategic framework outlined in the János Neumann Program. The cooperation agreement with the University of Miskolc holds great significance in advancing this objective."
