Dorottya Szikra, a senior scientific research fellow at the Institute of Sociology of the ELKH Centre for Social Sciences (CSS) leads the Hungarian research of the new ERC Consolidator Grant project titled "Welfare Experiences". The project is led by Ben Baumberg Geiger, Professor of Social Sciences and Health at the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at King's College London. The five-year research examines how different welfare systems affect people's mental health and their return to work.

The five-member consortium investigates the sums of benefits in Norway, the United Kingdom, Spain, Hungary and Estonia, as well as the emotional experiences of the application process, the level of security or dignity felt by applicants, and whether they receive fair treatment.
